Dr. Stephen Pinney completed his undergraduate training in biochemistry at Harvard University in 1987. He subsequently obtained his medical degree from McGill University and then moved to Vancouver to undertake a rotating internship at St. Paul’s Hospital. He developed a passion for orthopaedics during medical school and in 1992 he started his orthopaedic residency training at the University of British Columbia. During his residency he took time to complete a Masters degree in Adult Education. In 1998 he graduated from his orthopaedic residency training program and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada. He then completed two fellowships, one in sports medicine at UBC, and one in foot and ankle surgery at Harborview Medical Center at the University of Washington. In 2000 he joined the faculty at the University of California, Davis in Sacramento where he assumed the role of Chief of the Foot and Ankle service. In 2006 he moved to San Francisco where he served as Chief of the Foot and Ankle service at the University of California, San Francisco. In 2010 he accepted the position of Head of the Division of Orthopaedics at Providence Health Care and Head of the UBC Division of Distal Extremity Surgery. In addition to being a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada he is also certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The American Orthopaedic Association, The American Foot and Ankle Society, and the Canadian Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Pinney specializes in Foot and ankle surgery and operates a clinical practice out of St. Paul’s Hospital and the Vancouver Bone and Joint clinic. |
