Dr. Gropper is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan Faculty
of Medicine (1969) and completed his residency training in Orthopaedic
Surgery at the University of British Columbia in (1975).
A one year Fellowship in Hand Surgery was completed at the University
of Louisville, Kentucky, in 1976, with additional training in Basel
and Lusanne, Switzerland, as well as in Vienna, Austria.
Dr. Gropper is certified as an Orthopaedic Specialist. He is a Fellow
of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, and a Diplomat of the American
Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, he has completed Certification
of Added Qualification of Hand Surgery (CAQHS), as administered by the
American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Gropper is an active member of the Canadian Orthopaedic Association,
and is a past President and active Member of the Canadian Society of
Surgery of the Hand. He is currently an active Member of the American
Society of Surgery of the Hand and has served on several committees
within that organization.
Dr. Gropper is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics
at the University of British Columbia. He is a Director and Founder
of the Microsurgical Laboratory within the Department of Surgery. He
is a past Divison Head of the Hand and Upper Extremity Division within
the Department of Orthopaedics. Currently, he is the Director of Continuing
Medical Education in the Department of Orthopaedics at the University
of British Columbia.
Dr. Gropper is an active Staff Member of the Vancouver General and
UBC Hospitals, and serves as a Consultant in Hand Surgery to the Workers'
Compensation Board, the Canadian Arthritis Society, and the G. F. Strong
Rehabilitation Centre. |
