Dr. Fisher is a Fellowship-trained Spine Surgeon and has a clinical interest in adult spinal surgical care. He also has a Masters Degree in Health Care Epidemiology from the University of British Columbia. His post graduate education has enabled the Spine Program at Vancouver Hospital to develop a solid research infrastructure and incorporate strong epidemiological strategies into the Spine Program's research activities.

Dr. Fisher's clinical research interests include the surgical management of spine cancer and spine trauma, as well as the prevention of thromboembolic disease. In addition, his basic science research interests include instrumentation of the osteoporotic spine, the effect of nicotine exposure on spinal fusion, and the role of bone growth factors in spinal surgery.
